I am not experienced in keeping Knifefish, and I wanted to get a tube for it to hide in (it is just hiding behind a big shell, and rocks with holes in them right now) and I was wondering if they liked one color over the other (clear or black)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. Aren't they blind and sense by electronic vibrations in the water? They just like to feel secure in something, which is why clear or black tubing will work fine.

Ah, I see. Are they a primarily nocturnal fish? Because whenever I turn off the lights, it always comes out and swims around. So that is my guess.

Thanks for your help, everyone!:)

Parrotfish -- they are indeed nocturnal. There's a little more information in the AC species profiles.

I also want to make sure you're talking about a black ghost knife? If it's an African knife, then all this business about electricity has been nonsense!

I'm really not sure exactly what it is... I thought I heard the person who gave it to me say something about it being African. It is black, though. I haven't seen different knifefish in a while, so I forget which is which, and what they look like:confused:

Does it look like this?
