I wrote a few days ago about a year old koi that has a human like face. I am going to try to send his picture by e-mail since I could not figure out the proper procedure so it may not arrive. This koi started out as a nice metallic silver with grey fins but has turned more golden and less metallic. Its facial pattern is perfectly symetrical which may be why its head on face is so human like. In case you can't view it, its real eyes are not part of its facial pattern which is made up of a well defined yellow, wiggly nose with a bit of a bulb, black pigment "eyes", a black mustache made up from his actual lips that extends down to his barbles into a good handle bar mustache. He is not cute and is instead almost scary. In a side view of this fish he appears quite crabby and, indeed, he likes to eat gold fish fins.
My question?: Is this feature unusual and something a breeder would want? He is 7 inches long and lives in a 55 gallon tank with three other big koi. By springtime he will need to go to a pond, which I do not have. But, please indulge me here, I have dreams of his fathering (or mothering since I have no idea which sex he is) a school of human faced fish that would rise in unison in someone's pond, scaring visitors.
