A small koi(about 3") in my pond has popeye.
I'm not sure how to treat him/her, I've treated trpoical fish for it in an aquarium before, but I have no spare tank to put him(we'll call it a him) in as my hospital tank is full of blue tuxedo guppy fry ATM.
Is there any way I could treat the pond without hurting the other animals living in it(tadpoles/frogs, a baby RES, bugs of all kinds and mosquito fish)?
If not, he's probably going have to go into a bucket with a filter(I have an extra 40g filter I keep running in case something like this happens) and meds.

If he doesn't make it my neice(6) is going to be very upset, he's her baby, she even named him Nathan, she feeds him every day and he'd even come up to touch her hand.

I just took him out a little while ago and placed him in a bucket, now that I can see him without the cover of plants 2 feet under water, I can clearly see pineconed scales :(
Everyone else is doing great, eating like pigs, tearing my plants up ect.
But they also are a better quality koi than him and were most likely have better genes.

My neice was not happy to see him, she already knows what dropsy is.

that's too bad. you can try to treat with epsom salts to relieve the swelling. not a cure, but it gives you a few extra days to decide what to do.

I'll probably have to put him down, he looks very stressed(gasping, not moving much and swimming on an angle) and I don't want to make him suffer.
