I just wanted to post a thread to let everyone know that this product not only works as it claims, but it really is safe for sensitive fish.
Naturally all ich strains are different and I seem to have had one that wasn't very strong at all. Still, I'll just throw out some points.
I discovered a little of this on a rasbora and it quickly spread to a gourami. That was on the 19th of December.
I agonized over how to treat the problem because I have a planted tank and I was unsure about salt. But I also have a gourami, three yoyo loaches, two otos and two shrimp so I was nervous about any malachite green treatments.
Upon reading up on the different chemical treatments I happened upon Rid-Ich, which claimed that it was safe for sensitive fish due to a different chemical process used in its formulation. I definitely held my skeptical breath while buying it, but I figured I'd take the chance.
So I started treatments at the full strength, following the water change regimen and raising the temp to the mid 80's.
It is now nine days later and I haven't seen any ich for 5 days. Naturally I'm still going to continue the temp and the treatments for another 3-4 days just to be sure. In any case, I know this ich is all but beaten, and I'm relieved it was this easy.
But the real thing that makes me happy is that not one of my fish have showed the least sign of stress. All are swimming happily, showing the brightest colors and eating as well as ever. None of my tank fixtures have been dyed green and my biofilter is at 100%. It appears that Rid-Ich really is safe for sensitive fish; something no other product can claim.
I'm not one to endorse a product unless I'm getting paid...but I will say that for anyone who experiences ich in a planted tank with sensitive fish, this stuff might be your best choice of all chemical treatments. I used it full strength and all inhabitants are doing well. Just wanted to pass on the word.
