I got 8 kuhlis on Sunday and now I am down to 2, whenever I find them they are covered in this white slimy stuff that looks like cotton. There's a large ball of the white slime about the size of a cotton ball. I will post test readings when I get home tonight and post pics of the slime.

Yukes--sounds like fungus. It can be treated, but scaleless fish are very susceptible. The good news is it's not your tank, this is something they were exposed to at the store, and stressed beyond resistance. If any are still alive, try a saltwater bath, and
melafix treatment (along with increasing surface agitation).

Wait, why are we blaming me?

how would I go about a saltwater bath? and I'm blaming you cause ik you are gonna kill me but idk how you are gonna. either you or Jawa and his spider shrimp. :D

Dissolve 4 teaspoons in a gallon of treated FW, put in the fish for about 30 minutes. With scaleless, I'd go a little lighter, 4 tsp per gallon and a half. Monitor the fish--if they seem to be distressed, take them out! Get the temp close or slightly cooler.

at least that's what you would like me to think.

What else is in the tank with them? Water parameter readings in PPM?

in the tank is 8 neons and 2 pearls, I will get readings when I get home today as I am at School rn

Dead fish often look fungus-y after death (eww, it's gross). In less than a week, I'd guess either uncycled tank ammonia or nitrite...or some other issue from your lfs.

I'd just go with lots of big water changes, daily if possible...& crossing your fingers. Loaches are not the most salt tolerant of species. If you choose to go that route, add it slowly over a few days, & remove slowly too.

Good luck!

Sorry for not responding but all the kuhlis passed by the time I got home, we went to the lfs and they said that the cotton ball fuzz was uneaten food which makes sense because in hindsight I was overfeeding a lot. I am now feeding a lot less
