Large pretty fish for a 75g planted

How about adding some nice Rainbows. I have 1 lg. angelfish in my 55 gal. mixed with community fish and I got some Boesmani Rainbow fish. They are really pretty and come in a bright yellow/blue or orange/blue look at pictures on u-tube of them and they get along with Angelfish and other community fish you already have. A nice school or 3-6 would look nice. If you can get some females mixed in that would be great as they are fun to watch displaying infront of the females in the early morning. Females are not as showy as the males.

Now I have checked into severums.. those interest me.. but I've heard it's really hit or miss with them if they will move plants.. this might be something to consider.. I guess if I got them small enough maybe they would just get used to it?

I'm in this quandary too. I love severums - they are probably one of my favorite freshwater fish - and I'm really really tempted to put one in my new 75 gal setup, but it's a planted setup, and I don't want the plants destroyed. The severum I had years ago never rearranged anything, but I've heard so much about how they normally do rearrange... so I'm sort of torn on this... Hmmm...

Silver dollars come to mind, though they don't have much color. I have a couple dozen Australoheros oblongum juvies available. I've never seen the parents digging up the substrate or rearrranging the tank, though they did move some Najas when they were spawning. I think that was more to keep some open water available though, it grows so thickly it will completely fill the tank over time.

Well, I just really wanted to thank you all for your replies, I certainly checked out each fish.. but I think my heart was already sold on the discus I was just hoping something else might catch my eye. On a positive note, I did get 6 discus today all babies about 2" and they are awesome! I am hoping to succeed =)

Cool now we need a PICTURE with them in the tank.

I think you made the right choice. I have a 75 gallon planted with discus and it is a great tank.
