I just bought one of those miracle beam highlight. I got a blue and green and I am using them as a nightlight. But on their site they clam all these positive effects of having a laser. I remember taking a laser pointer ( the kind that goes on a key chain), and pointed it at a buddy of mine's goldfish as soon as the beam touched it's side the goldfish freaked out. Started swimming spratically(sp} kind of up on it's side. It continued to act like this for a few minutes afterwards. It was really weird. So then I went to my lfs tried it on a couple different fish there and they acted really weird as soon as it touched them also. It was almost like it was painful at first and left them semi paralyzed for a few minutes where the laser was touching them. Was wondering what any of you with the miracle beam lasers had noticed? Does it bother your fish in anyway? I don't know maybe the lasers they use are different some how but I don't know. the one I tried it with was a bullet shaped laser and no matter how far away the dot never got bigger. Is it the same with the miracle ones? Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated. niner

The miracle light things arent lasers. Their LEDs. They should not hurt your fish at all.

As stated they are just LED's and should not have the negative effects associated with lasers. I would also like to add the positive health benefits are most likely totally BS.

Btw, how many LED bulbs did your kit come with?

I remember there was a discussion on this awhile back. THe cunsencus (cannot spell ever) was that Lasers where extremely harmful, and that LED's had no positive effects. Last I heard the debate was still on about negative ones.

First, lets get one thing straight.

They offer TWO products.

LED's=These are the ones we have been talking about. They are very good nightlights for your fish because they are not an intense light source and you can still view them. THERE IS NO NEGATIVE aspects of these lights!

LASERS= This other product has many other claims. Check out:

Whethor these statements are correct..I dont know. If it isnt, well..thats FALSE advertising and they can be sued for that and I dont think they would chance that. so they are most likely true (if not in a small percentage), I personally cant vouch for them.
one thing though. You dont NEED to buy the Laser system to operate a Laser module. You can use the LED system. I actually did buy one laser that is pointed at my ceiling (I like the design)
If I was a fish and swimming, I think the bright laser beam can be annoying. They also dont add light to your tank. So its only for decoration purposes. mI know if I human looks at a laser of any lentgh of time, can be dangerous.

Tri Lite system= They have a new LED that continuosly changes 3 differtent colors. I never seen this one, But the "nightclub look" is not for my tanks. I Think i will stick to their Blue LEDS which are wonderfull.

I bought the led kit. It came with 2 lights one green and one blue. The laser kits were twice as much but it's the exact samething with 2 lasers instead of leds. The lasers are 14.99 a piece and will work with the kit I bought but as I stated from the only experience I had with lasers I don't think I want them near my fish. The leds on the other hand are extremely cool and look really cool as nightlights. The kits here are 29.99 and 49.99 and will operate up to 5 lights or lasers. Keep in mind that I'm in Canada (an arctic freakin' waste land at the moment -30C with the windchill that's insane), so they would be half that in the States..

Actually My Led cost 21.95 at walmart.
The Led and Laser modules both sell for $6.99 at Big als online
Walmart sells the LED for 7.99

Im not sure if the big als in canada sells the Leds for $6.99???

The laser module is also fun to point at your ceiling. REALLY visible and if you hide the laser module, poeple wont know where the red design is coming from :)
