so my king betta lays on the sand almost all day. he barely ever gets up and swims and when he does its either to eat, investigate, or flare at my betta right beside his tank. the top of his head looks kind of faded (the color) but i dont know if its been like that. so is he lazy or sick?

yup he has cver (plants and rocks) he's in the tank in my avatar with
5-harlequin rasboras
6-coulumbian tetras
3-julii corys
3-peppered corys
2-platies
1-female cockatoo apisto
1-bulldog pleco

since you have the pleco and the apisto, wich are territorial, they may be taking up all his cover, and when he tryed to hide, he might have got beat up. wat would help would be lots of hornwort. it would be good cover, and it would be away from the other territorial fish and in his swimming zone. :)

i dont think my pleco or apisto is very territorial. the pleco and the betta hang out by the same rock alot of the time. and i dont even know where the apistos territory is but i know theres a wad of anachris he could have his territory in.

the apisto will make his territory by a cave or major landmark. the pleco wont get territorial until it is older. how big is yours?

ok, at about 4-5 inches, youlll have a territorial pleco. and females apistos can still be territorial too. ;)

hopefully my plants will grow then. my anachris is only putting off new plants not really growing. can anybody help me with that? so this could just be because he doesnt have territory? he's not sick right? the top of his head kind of has tan on it like maybe dirt or something.

bettas are usually "ugly" near the head.. hes probly alright. all betas are lazy. :)

and for the anacharis, the growth is more bushy than tall, right?
