Happychem, you were RIGHT!!

My small sword plant now has a bunch (7 or so?) longer leaves!!! There are still a few old rounder leaves left on it (albeit pretty much dead and will probably be cut out off Friday), but still, I'm SO HAPPY! :troll:

The bigger plant has a few tiny green shoots, barely visible yet.

So, what did we learn from this?

Sword plants: don't write them off immediately if the leaves start to die off. Cut off dead/brown leaves and leave the roots in the tank for a few days to a week or two. I really wish I knew the scientific name of my plant, but alas, all I know is the lfs calls it an "Amazon Sword Plant".

Hey, good to hear Tara! I'm glad that you didn't throw it away in frustration. I guess it was just fate that I made an impulse buy when my lfs got in a new plant order.

Now I'm just waiting for mine to do the same!

And if you wait even longer ( a little over a year in my case) then you will see a cool shoot going to the surface of the tank and little sword plants will strat to form on it. I have 2 babies right now. Very cool.

You guys don't even know how excited I am... I was thinking ****, I can't keep land plants alive, and I can't even keep the easiest of water plants alive... I'm a plant loser!

edit:**** was hardly a swear in my book (what do beavers build?)... funny bb editing hahahaha!!!

TKOS ~ my small sword grew a shoot w/ 2 baby plants on it, I cut the shoot off and it's just floating in my tank right now... the roots are so short that I can't bury them yet. They're cute, they remind me of my Nana's spider plant (non-water!) that she's had since I was little, and now it's huge and has many grand baby plants potted around her house.

*doin the happy dance* :dance
