I used to house my bettas in fish bowls until I got wise and got them into aquariums with filtration and heat. Now I have some fishbowls that I would like to use for something productive. What can you suggest for empty clean fish bowls? thanks for your advice.

I was thinking a desert plant thingamajug.

I wont know anything about shrimp, but I think that it depends on the species of invert.
I imagine that you would probably need some type of filter and heater..

I wouldnt house any animals in a fish bowl. If you got several on hand you could do multiple succulent styled mini terrariums. Or you could do a mini terrarium for carnivorous plants. There are also some tropical plants that stay small or grow super slow that would do good in there.

You could do a mini terrarium... I had some leftover ADA Aquasoil and a bunch of riccia which was growing slightly emersed... then I had an empty pasta sauce jar that I didn't want to discard.

You'd want a lid/plastic wrap to keep the humidity in... :)
