Recently got my first batch of cherry shrimp (from the classifieds section) and just moved them into their new 10 gal home. This tank has a Coralife Colormax 20watt CF bulb on one half, and an incandescent on the other half. The Coralife has a purplish color to it compared to my other lights, which does dull the green of the plants. But boy does it show off the shrimp! Especially with my black Tahitian moon sand substrate. When they walk across from the "dim and yellowish" side to the "bright and purplish" side, their red color really intensifies.

The purple tone of the light really only shows when the water level drops below the rim of the tank and the surface bounces a glare of the light. So I'll keep the water level topped up. And I'll put the greenery over under the yellow light, and maybe add a red leaf plant, which should look good under this light.

So this isn't a question. Just a newby observation.
