Light Unit Tripping GFI

My 55g FOWLR is on a GFI circuit. Today, I found the lights off and everything else off on the tank, investigated, and found that the light unit tripped the GFI. My light fixture is a simple dual fluorescent one. The unit is just a few months old, but the lights aren't working and the bulbs are fine. Just wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen.

What do you mean by the lights arent working? do you mean the fixture itself?

Yes, the fixture will not turn on. The bulbs were tested in another unit and started up just fine. Tried different bulbs in the dual fixture with no results. I'm guessing the unit itself is bad.

May need a new starter, i'd try that.

Just found the receipt, it was purchased this past April. Sounds like a return to me!
