Lighting Enclosure Color (interior)

Actually, flat or matte white is more reflective than high-gloss white.
People usually choose flat or matt paints for their walls because it reflects light, however semi or gloss paint reflects too much light and shows off imperfections in the walls

So, I'm not sure I follow. Why?

Use your camera light meter and measure it. Matte is more reflective. Gloss can and does do highlights as you say, but net reflectivity (not just at the required highlight angle) is lower. It is not a huge difference, but it is real and has nothing to do with what folks find pleasing on their walls.

In setups such as the one pictured above, the enclosure color is trivial, as the Miro reflectors do the best available job of getting PC light delivered to the tank.
