I bought a sunpaq lighting system for my 10 gal tank. It is only 28 watts though. My first question is if 28 watts is enough for live rock, some polyps, maybe a coral or two and fish. that is 2.8 watts per gallon in a fairly shallow tank. could I just put in a 40w bulb or will that not work? They make a 40 system, maybe I should just upgrade to that. It looks very bright now though.

It's enough for soft corals, any lighting is enough for live rock and fish (niether of them absolutely need light, enough lighting for the fish to tell night from day is adequete). I'm not sure what you mean by "polyps"(do you mean soft coral polyps, large polyped stony corals, small polyped atony corals?) but based on how broad your description of what you want to keep is, you need more research before keeping corals.

Just so you know, the WPG rule is for the most part ireelevent becuase of more effiecient bulbs, ballasts, and reflectors that have been created recently. By any chance do you know what kind of bulb it is (compact flourescent, T5,T8, T10,or T12?)?

Ok, all is good. zoo's are soft corals, so like I said, your lighting is adequete. If you want, that lighting will probably be just enough for the lower light LPS corals, but I could be wrong there as I've only kept soft corals.
