I just recently purchased a 2X96 Coralife lunar light fixture for my 46 gallon. I am going to change the actinic bulb should I go with either a 6700k or another 10000k. Or are there any other suggestions for bulbs, should I leave the actinic. Its a freshwater tank heavly planted. Also what would be the ideal amount of time to leave the light on for I was leaving my old lights on for about 10 hours daily. I was thinking that with more wattage I should not leave them on for the same amount of time. Any input would be greatly accepted.

I prefer the 6700K.. Although several people I know mix the 6700K and 10000k to acheive a more astheticly pleasing light.

I would still leave the lights on for 10 hours, you may be able to control each light seperately, and if so, I'd run the 10000k from say 10 AM till 2 Pm to simulate noon time sunlight, while not overexposing your tank to increased algae. then adjust the photoperiod of the 10000k to an optimum level... 3-4-5 hours etc..

If you run 2 6700K bulbs do the same, just have one on for a smaller duration of time...

that fixture demands co2, imho.

good deal, then.
