I was wondering some things about lighting. Is there such thing as too much? I am looking into getting a new hood with: 2x400w Metal Halide and 4x65w PC actinics. For my 120 gallon reef tank. A guy at a LFS told me that I didnt need 400w halides, that it would be too much for my tank. Is 8.83w/gal too much? If so what should I be looking for in lighting? Thanks for your imput.

I suppose you can have too much, but 2X400 watts isn't outrageous. However, more wattage means more heat and higher electricity bills. Almost anything will he happy under 2X250 watt halides, but it's your call.
