Just wondering, I have my lights on a timer. Is it alright to have them come on in the morning (so I can feed and observe before work), go off again and then back on when I come home so I can watch them? So say like

on at 6am
off at 8am
on at 3pm
off at 9:30pm

No, it's not a planted tank which is why I ask.

The only concern I would raise is whether they have access to ambient light while you're gone, and the light is off. Fish do had a biological timer and would appreciate regular light/dark cycles. Lighting them in the morning /evenings only, and leaving them in the dark during the day/ night might make them a bit neurotic :p

Off topic, AquaDummy...for some reason, that avatar of yours I find disturbing... :(

yeah... agreed- the avatar is just a bid disconcerting...

Their diurnal cycles will adapt to changes in light, but it's probably better for them to keep them on a solid day/night schedule.

lol..well I'll get right on that new avatar.

As for the lights - I'll work something out to keep it a solid dat/night schedule - thanks

:OT:

Hope the new avatar is more pleasing..

you don't have to change it- (although I must say the monkey is awesome) but the kid for some reason just looked demonic.
