Lights For 75 Gallon Tank

I have this light fixture coming http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/product_info.php?cPath=71_190&products_id=1638 and according to this http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d.php?t=331913 i really can only use one bulb is this correct? If i use two bulbs i will be way over the high light point. Is this correct or am i confused on this?

The tank is 48"Lx18"Tx18"W

I highly doubt a single 54 watt, T5 bulbs is going to be overpowering a 75 gallon tank...HO or not.

I think 2 would be fine too. I have that much over a 40g long, no CO2 but lots of floating plants. Just watch the photoperiod & heat

That fixture will work well for your 75g. I would run the 2 bulbs anywhere from 6-8 hrs. depending on what plants you have and run the 3rd bulb on another timer to go on for 1-3 hrs. as a midday blast. I have the Catalina 4x54 fixture over my 75g and found that it is a little too much for my tank. I could have gone with the 3 bulb fixture. You can always use some floaters or raise the light if you want to lessen it a little more.

1 bulb is fine for low/ medium light planted tanks.
i run 2 and i can grow almost any stem plant out there.
if you go with 2 you might need co2 and ferts.

i also have the catalina lamps, 3 of them. i love em.

nice fixtures.
run the Power compact 65 watt over my 29's and they work great.. nice thing with the T-5 is they have a single reflector for each bulb.
as suggested you can control with timers the amount of light you want to run and how long 2 switches (2bulb/1 bulb) run it with 2 on then midday light add the 3rd and have it on for a shorter period
