What is the proper lighting for a acryliac tank, I do not have a
canopy etc to mount the lights into, the lights would I guess
just lay on top of the acryliac? Tank is 72 inches long thanks for any help.

Most people just use a strip light on top like:

If you have a planted tank, you'll want to do a little research as the types, wattages, etc of lighting you want. Otherwise, if you have no plans of planting, I'd just go with a basic flourescent light.

I assume you tank has lids? You wouldn't want to set the lights on top of the tank if the top is open.

I've heard many people buying their strip lights from Home Depot/Menards/Lowes type stores, but you might want to ask in DIY if you wanted to go that route.

The only thing I can think of that would be special about acrylic is that you could potentially overheat it (causing it to crack), so some consideration for heat output should be taken if you purchase super high output fixtures and bulbs.
