BEST
CATFISH
EVER!
Here's the thing, though — they are always hungry and they are always REALLY hungry. They'll eat until their bellies balloon out like a puffer (other pimelodids do that too). They are peaceful enough to keep with anything that won't fit in their mouths, but they have big mouths. I wouldn't suggest any tankmates smaller than 4-5" for an adult. They can get to almost 2 feet long, but 14-18" is more normal. Mine would never take anything but live food, preferably fish. Occasionally they would eat grass shrimp. Most of the time, they hang out midwater — they only sit on the bottom when they're too full to swim. At night, they like to orient head-down and hang out in vertical vegetation (swords, vallisneria, etc) or driftwood. Sometimes they will ambush prey from that position also. They are prone to occassional outbursts, going nuts and dashing around the tank. I wouldn't want to keep them in anything smaller than 180 gallons (room to turn around).
