Could I put a small(3.5") lima shovel nose in with my baby(1.5-4") jags in a 125gal aquarium? Would this be enough space for 2 jags and this cat when there full grown?

I have tried to keep limas with cichlids and it just has not worked. Even though they are predatory, limas have trouble defending themselves vs territorial cichlids. My JD's and convicts beat up my lima pretty good in my 120. They were much quicker to get the food too, I almost had to drop food right in front of the limas face for it to get anything.

However, you do have a 125 and if it is 6' then there might be enough space. It would be an experimental thing for you, just have an extra tank available for the lima just in case.

I have kept limas with large cichlids and had no problems with aggression. But like NYQYL said it is very hard to get any food to them before the cichlids grab it.

I have 2 cichlid tanks that have a lima in each. The smallest is 125g. The limas are kept with larger Midas, Convicts, Severums, Synspilum, and Buttiokoferi among others. I've not had any problems. In fact the Lima's often get more food than the cichlids.
