If you could only choose one kind of loach, what one would it be and why? Price and availibility do not matter.

Clowns are nice....definitely, but they get huge. I have read they eat snails too or at least keep the population under control. I've seen them huge though....hope you have the space.

Any loach of the botiine genus will eat the snails. The only ones that will not are dojos, kuhlis and hillstreams.

I'd have a hard time making my mind up between sidthimunki's and clowns. You didn't say tank size was also not an issue. With a giant tank it would be clowns. With a not so giant tank it would be sids.

I love both sids & striatas in a more managable size but clowns are in a whole 'nother class. If you can really house them, do it!
