lionfish in a 30 gal?

do you think i can keep a volitan lionfish in a 30 gallon?
if not i'm just going to get a fuzzy dwarf


also, what would be some good tankmates? would a small snowflake moray eel ( 8-12 inches) be a good choice?

A volitan would be better off in a 55g and up size tank....and snowflake eels, although a good choice, get to be almost 3 feet, so they need a larger tank as well....
 
at my fish store they have a fully grown "mini" snowflake moray its only about a foot. everywhere else says they grow up to 3 ft. is my store wrong or is their really a mini species?

I've never heard of a mini snow flake eel...the avatar is from an old show called Monty Python...

Here's a link To a great article in Reefkeeping, an online magazine. They say a fuzzy dwarf is a good candidate for a 30-50g tank. We've got a Volitans at work right now and I'd say he's MUCH too big for a 30g - he's a huge, very agressive guy! Besides, I've seen a fuzzy dwarf and they're much cuter ;)

Silly walks! Monty Python rules, it's really too bad John Cleese regrets those years - no matter how often I see/hear their skits I always laugh so hard I have tears rolling down my face. I think my husband knows every word of every song and skit off by heart, not to mention Fawlty Towers... but I digress, back to the lionfish... :D

What's this? A what kind of dwarf? You guys have to stop mentioning cool fish because I've changed my mind on what will go into my 29 gal about a bazillion times already. Now I'm going to have to go look these guys up and .... see what you do to me!!!

Fu Manchu lionfish are about 1" smaller then Fuzzy Dwarfs but otherwise look the same. Volitans can get to 15" diameter, basically think of a basket ball floating in your aquarium. A Adult Snowflake Moray gets to 3-4' and have a habit of redecorating the aquarium by moving rocks around.
