I am looking for a bit of info on these guys. Has anyone here kept them? What are they like? I am looking for a personable catfish. Some info I have found say they are personable and others say you will never see the thing again.

Also say they should be kept in pairs. Problem is there is only one and I have never seen another.

if personable's what you're after, i can recommend Hoplosternum personata (Megalechis personata). They are the most fun guys in the world, not too common and they've got great big feelers and that fat SA look about them as well. Oh and they're cheap, they don't get too big (6"ish), and don't eat fish. But they look like they do. :P

The jaguar catfish (Liosomadoras oncinus) is a very beautiful fish. I have a 6" one that I have had for a couple of years. From my experience I would have to say, you will never see it again. Mine has a cave that he never leaves until after dark. After the lights go off you can sometimes see his outline cruising the tank. When I finally make him leave his cave for cleaning he is just gorgeous and worth the tank space for me. You might not see him but you sure can hear him. He croaks everytime a tankmate tries to enter his cave. If you want interaction he is not the cat to get but if you want beauty and something a little different go for it. Best of luck!
