little micro organisms in the filter media

Can someone enlighten me with what this might be.
I have notice some small micro-organisms (if that what they are called) in the filter media. They are about half a centimetre long and they look tiny worms with feet of some sort.

probably pods.

The description sounds like isopods, one kind of "pod." Maybe amphipods. Harmless, and feeding on the debris in the pads.
