I just bought some from Publix. They were on ice and alive! I guess there in a dormit stage... anyways I am floating 5 of them in my tank. Its kind of a test to see how they do. The reason I got them is for nitrate export.
If yall have any input I could use it.

Update: The clams seem to be doing good.:dance2: (wow) There pretty cool even though they just sit there. There clams are open a couple mm. A couple of them have some tube-like projections that are coming out of them? maybe a funnel to grab food.? Publix $.48 a piece If anyone has some good info on them I would be interested.
Can yall believe these were on sale for people to eat?? They eat ****! lol
They're really good to eat. I was wondering about mussels (cultured) and little necks in an aquarium. From what I've read, bivalves will starve in an aquarium (might take months). Too bad, I got an electric scallop before I researched it (fiancee wanted it). I'd like to know from some experts if any of these can be kept successfully.
I believe Publix is a grocery store in the Southeast. At least it was when I used to live in Florida. Comparable to an Albertsons or Safeway for us Californians.

yep... at this time 4 out of 5 have burried themselves. There interesting animals. How bad would it be if they died? they open there clams completely when they die, right?
yea when they dont close all the way anymore they are dyeing. and if they died, depending on size, they would create a large ammonia spike that could kill your fish and corals.
It took a few days, but now all 5 clams are completely under the sand. No sign of them above sand. I thought they were going to keep there food tunnel above sand, but I was wrong.
I tested my nitrates (I havn't in a while) and they are high close to 50ppm. I removed the sponge in the refugium. All livelihood is good, so I am going to see how the clams do... since they are supposed to lower nitrates.
