Guys and Gals !!

I am new to the Grourami world and I was wondering can they live with live plants or do they need to stay with the fake plants..I have never use live plants before and I would like to try some because I think they are SO much nicer in a tank..

So if you fine folks can let me in on somethings as in what I should use or stay with that would be GREAT..

Also is it normal for a gourami to hang out inside of a statue..I think it maybe a female because of the round fin but I have no clue .Anyhow it come out when I walk up to the tank then it will swin around for a bit then I can look back over and it is just hanging out in there.. Is that normal or do I have a fish with issue??LOL

It would be greatly appreciated it someone can maybe give some ins and out of these fish or tell me where I can read up on them !!
Thank you

Mine don't bother my live plants at all. They will sometimes use plant matter when they build a bubble nest prior to spawning.

She's probably hiding because your other gouramis are pestering her. Watch to see if they are.

Google Trichogaster trichopterus. That is the scientific name for the 3 spot (blue/opaline/gold/platinum) gouramis.

Trichogaster leeri is the pearl gourami.
Colisa lalia is the dwarf gourami
Colisa chuna is the honey gourami

I've bred quite a few different species, so feel free to ask any questions you might have.

trichogaster microlepis is the moonlight gourami :)

my gouramis sometime pick up some java moss and try to make it float at the surface but it doesn't and they look sad lol

I have a tank with dwarf honey gouramis and some live plants (Hydrilla and Cabomba). The Gouramis dont seem to make any noticeable damage on the plants. :)

My big pearl gourami (avatar) doesn't bother any of my plants, never has. I have a bunch of crypts, anubias, java fern and a bunch others i don't remember the names of and they're all fine!
