Ok now i know that loaches dig up plants normally, but does any body know of any plants i could put in the tank that they'll leava alone?
I was thinking of some java moss or some hairy grass?
Any ideas or opinions?????

I dont have any experience with the loaches you have, however, I have heard that clown loaches willl bite hoels into leafier plants, such as amazon swords and other plants such as those. However, I have 8 kuhli loaches in my 55 gallon, and they do not disturb the plants at all. Most of the time they hang out in them. Kuhli's are considerably smaller than most of the loaches you have though. The only thing i could suggest that the clowns and other larger loaches wouldnt tear up would be a bunch of Dwarf Hairgrass. Hope this helps.

ya thanks i was thinking something of that sort. java moss hair grass etc. o by the way how do you like your kuhli loaches? im planing on getting some. Any pointers?

i keep clowns loaches with amazon sword, dwarf hair grass, red temple, sagatteria, narrow leaf sword, java moss, crypt, and val. i have no problems at all.

I have also kept them with wisteria, cabomba, fox tail, ludwigia amd many other plants with no issues.

Also have kept and still keep yo-yo, sidthimunki, dojo, angelicus, kuhli, and dario loaches with plants. and have no problems

ok cool

Yes I LOVE my kuhlis. They are definatley some of the most interesting fish you can buy. Right now I have black kuhlis, however I may add some regular colored ones if I get the chance. Kuhlis lvoe being in groups of about 5-7, but you can really get as much as you want/your tank can hold. My kuhlis enjoy plants, which may be a problem in your tank, but they seem to really enjoy diving into all sorts of plants in my tank. A lot of the time, they will be perchesd in quite awkward areas, such as on leaves, etc. Also, be careful of any large openings into your tanks filter, becuase kuhlis are notorious for getting into tight spaces, and you dont want one the get stuck in the filter. This hasnt been a problem for me though. Kuhlis also like soft substrate so they can burrow, I just got a bunch of Seachem's Flourite, which will benefit the kuhlis and the platns in my tank. The only other peice of advice I have is once your weather loach grows, he might try to make a snack out of the kuhlis so you would want to watch out for that. Aside from that, kuhlis are awesome fish, and I definately reccomend getting some.

sweet ive heard about them but lfs hasnt got them in yet.
oh btw i have pool filter sand in my tank and all my fish love it.
plus the sand is small enough for the loaches to sift through but also big enough to sink so it doesnt get sucked into the filter

Sounds like a good setup for the kuhlis, i know petsmart gets them in sometimes, cos i've seen the tag for them in the store, but they never had any actually in the store, so maybe your lfs could order them for you?

i have 2 golden dojo loaches (aka weatherfish or weather loaches) and they don't bother my plants. i have several anubis, java fern, water sprite, crypt, amazon swords, moneywort, red ludwigia, red long leaf rotala.

however, i use gravel that's too big for them to burrow into. i tried sand (put some in a ceramic dog dish) as a "burrowing pit" and they didn't burrow. they just sat on it like a dog bed. my loaches also stick in weird angles in the plants. they're adorable!

I don't have problems with my clown loaches and my plants. I've been told the same thing. I don't really get them uprooted.. though I have had some leaves and stems pop to the surface.. It don't think it's the Loaches though.
