How many smaller loaches can I put in my 38 gallon? I would like to get the dwarf loaches, but they are hard to find and pricey when you do. So looking at yoyos or angelicus, probably. I also have 2 angels and about a dozen small tetras, red phantom and von rio.

Also, I had some clown loaches that I recently found homes for. They had great fun mowing down plants like vals, wisteria, anacris and some others. Do all loaches like to do this?

One smaller loach to stay away from is the skunk loach (B. morletti if I remember correctly). I've kept them, liked them, but they liked to shred the long tails on my paradisefish. I can't imagine they wouldn't find shredding angelfish fins just as much fun...

BigG, not eat them, mow them. They used to chew at the bases of the vals and anachris, especially. Very fun fish but couldn't "upgrade" so found them a new home with a fellow AC member.

I had heard about the skunk botias.

I have bought Kuhlis before and like them. I bought four hearing that they would hide if by themselves, but we still rarely saw them. I have a sand substrate in that tank. 2 of them died after getting ulcers, 1 has disappeared and now we never see the other one. I know where he lives, though. My son has a treasure chest in that tank and he lives inside the back of it : )

I have a 37 G tall and I have one seargent major loach and one yo-yo loach. They do a fairly good job at being a clean up crew. Plus they are entertaining when they have the occasional tussle with each other. They don't get very big either.
