Long-Finned Barbs: compatibility questions

Oh, I agree about the painted glass fish. Actually, when I saw them years ago and didn't know they weren't a natural coloration, I thought they were beautiful. So I agree that it's important to tell people about them *before* they buy one!

I like the elegance of the unpainted glass fish.

For what it's worth, my local PetSmarts and PetCo do not carry painted fish. When I asked PetSmart about it, they said it was a company policy. I hope this is true; it would help if there weren't a market for these fish, and PetSmart is a pretty large market it they've opted out chain-wide.

I have Tiger Barbs and long finned Rosy Barbs together but I think the secret is a well-planted tank. I am actually overstocked but with the tons of hidey holes and plants everyone is very brightly colored with fins intact. They seem to be really happy too. As a note, I added the long fins after the tiger barbs were already in there.... I have 2 UDC as they like to be with their own kind, a pictus and 3 clowns. They are are fine together but the UDC sleep under big leaves of the live plants during the day....

Good luck with your cool tanks! How fun to have such large tanks to play with :)
