I recently picked up a gray/green long tentacle anenome. it was put in the tank near the edge of some live rock. and he has wedged itself in. some of his tentacles are covering up his center.
Is this natural or should there be concern?

Notice how the tentacles cover the center of the anemone .

Wow. Never seen one look like that, very interesting. For the first few days/weeks in a new tank an anemone will wander around until it finds the spot it wants to be in. Sometimes it will go behind rocks, squeeze between rocks.. anything it can do to find that perfect spot.

Also, when feeding, they will grab food with the tentacles and actually put them into their mouths, like licking your fingers. I would not be concerned about what yours is doing.

His tentacles started turning black/brown and he was emitting some slime i took him out immediately im afraid he is dead.:headshake2:

Exactly what they said.. first time you see an anemone poop in your tank it is very scary. They shrink up to the point it looks like they are dying, and then spit out a bunch of nasty poo from their mouth. Should only last a day or two at the most.

Anemones are suprinsigly hardy animals. When my tank got up to 92f one summer I lost every coral in my tank.. but somehow my anemone survived. It also survived all the bad lighting, algae blooms, cyano outbreaks.. you name it... my anemone has survived it when nothing else could. I definately learned why corals and anemones shouldn't be put into newly setup tanks... just because the cycle is completed doesn't mean more fun is in store shorty after in the form of algae blooms.

I didnt see a black slime he just started going limp and his tentacles were black i put him in a cup with a 100w lamp his tentacles seem to be coming back to life but if i take the lamp away they all fall limp. i may recorver him yet.
