Longspine Urchin vs Snowflake Eel (why can't we just all get along?)

So I have a quick question (yet again) for you guys. I googled this and couldn't find a direct answer; at least now I know I won't die from touching the Longspine Urchin like I previously thought.

Anyway I came home yesterday and I find my Urchin practically sitting on my Snowflake Eel (really the Eel was kind of touching the Urchin with the end of it's tail). Is the Urchin poisonous to other fish or just humans? I stuck something in the tank to move the Urchin away but the Eel is acting like he was in convolutions for about an hour afterwards. Wasn't sure if the Eel was just being weird or if the Urchin effected him in some way.

I have 3 LS urchins and a 14 inch long snowflake and they all get along Great. The only problem would be if the snowflake trys to bite or gets aggresive with the urchin. Generally not a problem. My snowflake has swam right through the spins of my largest LS.

Oh thats good to hear. Now I won't worry about moving that Urchin when the Eel touches him. Those Urchins add alot of flavor to the tank. I'm going to pick up another one now that I know it doesn't hurt that Eel.

I for one not believe that there be any problems with eels in with sea urchins. For one, the eel would have to swim directly over/on the sea urchin for it to cause any injury to the eel and for the most part, the eel is smart enough to stay away from its spins, what if long or short>

i had a green wolf eel accidently hit its face on the long spine. the next day his face was swollen and lighter color, then its eye turned milky color then it died 3 days after the initial wound. i think it just hit it on accident during its vorocious feeding time :(

ersico, The problem there is, your wolf eel knows no limits and has to move either over or across anything that is in the tank. But the dwarf eels are another matter and of course, there be no 100% guarantee that nothing ever will happen for we have bot animals in the same aquarium. Also, the other thing I gather is that your aquarium be so much smaller then a 180 or 240. For if so, the eels I keep with the sea urchins will have greater room to move about. As is, the wold eel is a small creature, and aggressive at that. Also, I'm sorry of you loosing the wolf eel, its a hard lesson to have on trail and error. :(
