Looking for good camping in PA

That sounds really nice too. My days of real camping are over, at least until the kids are over. I really miss backpacking in the Great Gulf wilderness.
If you decide to ever venture out to the western part of PA, I can help you out. There are several that we go to.
eastern Pa - try lancaster area..most fo them are nice...
quakertown pa campgrounds are very.....skinhead, white supremist, rebel flags.....my family and i ended up there once and for our family it was not a good match....however soemone else may like that. The unfortunate thing is the campgrounds..were wonderful....nice spacious affordable, beautiful....just was to dangerous for my family
On the Delaware river is Tomickin (near new hope pa, a little north) right near the ringing stones...great campsite...excellent mixture of people...nice clean restrooms pools and lots of activties for all ages...teens and lil ones as well as seniors ...everything from bingo to dances to biking.
on opposite side the jersey side between lambertville and frenchtown is bulls island....it is a state park...and bring your innertubes it is right on the deleware and at a great tubing spot where ven the little ones can go with you..also next to the canal for some excellent bass fishing, canoing, and the tow path goes form bulls island all the way down to washingtons crossing for some great easy bike riding in both directions.
south of lambertville aobut a (6 mile bike ride from bulls island) is a wonderful flea market get their early saturday for the good stuff. also pleanty fo places to stop in each direction for lunch, breakfast, art galleries, etc etc.

Rickett's Glen falls trail is a pretty easy hike that kids shouldn't have problems with. It's rated "hard" but I thought it was a piece of cake compared to some of the sections of the Appalachian Trail that I've hiked. Heck it even has paved sections and steps in some locations.
If you are looking for something a little farther west in PA you could check out Knoebels. They have camp grounds and hiking like a traditional camp ground but then they also have a small theme park. My parents took us when we were young and we really enjoyed it. They have a campsite right near the theme park and then they have one a little ways away with a pond where you can go fishing.
May be easy for adults with proper footwear but I have seen lots of accidents there- the rocks can be slick from the humidity. I have hiked it- on busy weekend there is the potential for for some one to bump into you. Not good for little kids. If you are interested in a harder hike- try the Glen Onoko Falls near Lehigh Gorge SP- definitely need to be careful on that one. I grew up hiking it- trail is almost gone in spots but the area is beautiful.
Ehh...I hiked it in 90 degree weather with sneakers on and thought it was easy. I guess I'm in better shape than I thought.
But you're right I guess it would matter on how old the kids are. I've been hiking/backpacking since I was 8 so I got use to it early. I think it also depends on where you start on the trail because there are many side trails to start at. I was poking fun at the rating. If that's "hard" I want to know how they would rate the Black Forest Trail.
