I'm compiling a rainbow species "buy" list for my web site which will include only rainbows that are either commonly found in the USA & Canada at the LFS or can be bought from breeders and shipped in.

The listings will include rarity, size, tank size for a school (both in gallons and footprint) and other information. I also want to compile a list of LFS and private breeders who carry rainbowfish on a regular, semi-regular, or special order basis, but that's for a bit later.

What I need are rainbowfish pictures. YOUR rainbowfish pictures :) Full credit to the photographer and, when I get time, a little bio on you and your rainbowfish.

All I ask is that the photographs be YOURS, not someone else's, and permission to alter them as needed.

I have several rainbowfish myself, as many of you know, but just because I have Boesemani doesn't mean that yours aren't better looking or that you can't take better pictures ;) They may be and you probably can. Send me your pics and I'll PM you if I use them.

Please make sure the pictures are full sized, not cropped, and as high a resolution as you can get.

Send me a PM if you have any you can share and I'll give you my email address where you can send them.

Thanks!

Roan

PS yes, you can send me Madagascar, Silversides and Sailfin Silversides pictures. I'm going to include those in a different section with an appropriate disclaimer :D

I'll try to get some good pictures of my Tourquoise for you tonight when its dark in the house. I have the one male and he's got three girls in with him. I started with the Boesmanni and now really prefer my tourquoise. I am actually going to find a new home for my Boesmanni and keep just the tourquoise. LOVE THEM! I'm even considering setting up a 20 gallon tank to let them spawn in. They spawn in my 75 all the time but the clown loaches take care of all the eggs.

My son also has some Celeb males in his 20 gallon in his room. He really digs them. They don't do a lot for me but it's not my tank

That would be GREAT! Thank you! I just happen to be working on the page for Turquoise atm, because I'm making a template for all the fish that includes the Scientific name and the actual, or official, common name, as well as the hobby and marketing names.

The Turquoise's real name is "Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish" and that particular fish is very commonly mislabled in stores as "neon" rainbowfish. I bet you can guess what it gets mixed up with?

OH, and if anyone can: I'd like any and all pictures of babies, juvies and adults, both male and female. Anything you can throw my way, I'll see if I can use it.

I've never come across any site that has pictures of both sexes in the three stages of development. I want to have that.

Anything to provide correct information and make it easier for people to buy their rainbows with confidence that they are getting what they are paying for.

Cool...I just bought a juvie female tourquoise on Teusday....at least i *think* its a female. Kinda hard to tell. She is only about an inch and a half. Love them.

Yep...i knew they were Lake Kutubu but most people don't know what they are unless I say Tourqoise.

I will try to take pics tonight

Whats the best way to get you these photos. Do you have an email address so I can send attachments?
