Hello every1 i've been lurking for a while so figured it's time to post and ask some questions lol. I've had my current set up for roughly 2-3 years now and getting quit tired of it. It needs something new an exciting so I went through my "the practical aquarium fish handbook" and did some research and came up with a pretty good list of fish I'd like to add to my tank. At this current time I have the following in my tank...

2 Large Iridescent Sharks
4 Large Black Widow Tetras
1 Large Golden Chinese Algae Eater (that is currently terrorizing the tank)
2 Medium Leopard Cory Cats
2 Medium Albino Cory Cats
1 Large Albino Cory Cats
1 Large Kissing Gourami
1 Large Unknown Gourami (I'll take a picture sometime)
6 Small to Medium Various Plecos (it wasn't suppose to be this way, I inherited 3 of them)
1 Large Silver Angelfish

Now after looking in my book and some research I've come up with the following list of fish I'd like to add to my tank but I want to make sure that all my fish can grow in my tank without having an issue. I already know my 6 plecos isnt going to last. When the time comes I'll be making a post in the selling section for them. I'd like have 1 nice community tank versus a bloodshed tank (already happened once)

Glowlite Tetra - 2
Bloodfin Tetra - 2
X-ray Tetra - 2
Gold Long-finned Danio - 2
Gold Gourami - 2
Ghost Catfish - 4
Upside-down Catfish - 2
Red-tail Black Shark - 2
Bleeding Heart Tetra - 2
Long-fin Rosy Barb - 3
Leopard Long-fin angelfish - 2
Zebra Long-fin angelfish - 2
Blue Discus - 2
Albino Ruby Shark - 2
Glass Hatchet Fish - 4

so thats my list hope you guys can shed some light and give me some ideas on whats good/bad to put into my tank.

Dan

p.s. Incase you are curious as to what my tank is like

55 gallons (15% water switch every 2 weeks)
gravel bottom
Big Castle in the corner with various rock structures..in the process of putting in live plants

wow thanks for the info Mgamer20o0 i had no clue red tailed black sharks were THAT mean..Kissing Gourami & Iridescent Sharks are roughly 3 inches now...whens a good time to remove them from the tank? I don't want dead fish I'd rather sell them before it's 2 late. Ah no discus either? :( they look so cool..as for the plecos i'll have to get down and dirty with them tomorrow when my lights on to id them all. I know one's a Bristlenose Pleco and 2 are Common Plecos. i'll id the others tomorrow

i am a big fan of removing anything that might become a problem later. i would find someone to take the common plecos Iridescent Sharks and the Kissing Gourami. the Bristlenose Pleco would be fine. until the tank is fixed i wouldnt add anything.

as for the RTS they might be ok to start with but time after time people post this. had my RTS for a couple months it kept to its self. one day it killed or attacked all my fish what can i do?

your hope tank sounds good only notes is that glowlights do better in schools (5 or more) and Discus need special care usually live food and they need special water requirements like soft water and almost perfect parameters. also i wouldnt recommend the red tail either as gamer stated above.

I think it would be better with larger groups of fewer fish, especially the schoolers. No discus, sharks, kissers, CAE or plecos.

thanks for the info Germanman so besides the red tails and discus the rest of my list is good?

I agree - beef up the groups of cories and black widow tetras.
