Lophiobagrus species - how many are there ?

Hey there catfish experts.

Lophiobagrus...I've found descriptions of two species : brevispinis & cyclurus.

Are there any more ?

what species have their mouths on top of the face ?

and sorta extend their mouths almost like a nozzle to feed ?

and sorta look like a senegal bichir ? as eel like elongated body.

I ask because I was sold two lophiobagrus...at least that's what the label said...my LFS is usually very good. They don't look like any pics I can find thogh.

gah! I think these are Erpetoichthys or polypterus

and if so I have to catch the little buggers and bring them back. Gah ! Gah!........Gah!!!

here's a sketch...scaled body, rusty/grey/black colouration, red touch to face

and as woofy rightly points out it can't be a bichir with a dorsal fin like that can it

mouth is above eyes

I should also have drawn in bichir like nodules on the nose

Check out planetcatfish.com ? If you can't find the mystery fish in the cat-e-log there, borrow a digital camera and snap a pic or two. No offense, but the drawing isn't much help for an ID...

I know - I was just trying to show the fins and mouth position. It ain't on planet catfish from my searches so far
