By now, you are probably getting the gist of my tank. 125g w/ few bits of LR, and live sand. Any way, I just tested my water again, and every thing is comming up fine. NH3=0, nitrite=0, nitrate=5, PH=8.4. Stock= panther grouper @ 3", spotted hawk @ 1 3/4", scooter blennie @ 1 1/2". Newer tank, but fully cycled. The grouper was in super condition at the LFS, but hasn't eaten since I brought him home. He spends most of his time hiding in a dug out corner, or by the filter intake, which I assume is pretty normal for an ambush hunter. At any rate, I just noticed a bit ago that he is shedding a thick white layer of what I assume is slime coat. Is there a reason for this?? I've seen him scratch a bit, but not much. I've noticed that since I brought him home, the sand has been sticking to him when he lays on the bottom....is this just an extra stress coat from transfering him home maybe?? Is this a big problem or just a normal process from the stress of moving?? I've only had one other fish do this to me in the past, and it was a lion...but the shed was much thinner. Any imput is appreciated.
BTW, no spots on the fish, and the other two are doing just fine.
TIA
