Picked up two pieces from the LFS....

Both pieces together weigh in at 2lbs....
They are fairly small and the reason i picked them up are they are two flat shelving type of pieces.

anyway, my question....

They are now in my tank and the two pieces have those hitchhiker anemones...you know the bad ones....

I pulled the two pieces back out and they are currently in a fresh water dip to kill them.

??do i have to make sure these rocks are cured again before putting them back in??

They are small and i'm wondering if it will cause an ammonia spike. I personally think that they are small enough that the tank will clean up the ammonia itself. My water has been perfect for at least 4-5 months with out any excessive levels.....

thank you for any imput.....

By doing the fresh water dip for that live rock, How long did you leave it in the freshwater.. becouse you could kill everything on there.. not just the Apstisa

I wanted to be sure they were gone...

i knew everything else would die off also...

I left it in for about 15 minutes or so to kill all. I put it in the tank after a good tooth brushing...

I have a skimmer...i figure it clear itself. I just did a water change to be safe. Its six hours later now...i'll be watching my levels

what you need is a Peppermint shirmp, They accually feed on them.. So they help keep your tank clean of them..

Also, go to your drug store and pick up a Syringe.. and you can inject them with hotwater.. if this does not work, Then use Either Kalwasser mix or Kents Superbuffer DKH, and mix this with RO water so its Milky.. and then inject them.. do one or two every couple of hours, becosue you do not want a spike in your ALK,PH or CAL.. but using these Products will inject a high PH, and kill them, Just like use drinking Bleach..

how long does it take a pep to eat them, I"ve had a pep in my tank for about 2 weeks now and there is no sign that he's eating my aip

I never knew that about the pep shrimp. Thing is, those pep shrimp won't even have a chance to sink to the bottom before one of my triggers makes a meal out of it or them.

Update on the ammonia...

Its been well over 24 hours since the rock was put back into the tank. I have my test results right in front of me. I only tested ammonia an nothing else. There is a very faint sign... 0 - .25

my tank to care of it so far....
another test tomorrow morning and one after work. If the results are the same i think i'm golden.....

Just out of curiousity...what makes these little guys so hated? People complain about how anenomes never survive in captivity, and these things seem to flourish. Are they ugly? Predatory? I'm just wondering why the hate (perhaps I'll find out in a month when I get my LR, and then I'll be a persecutor as well)?

the word on the street is that they have a bad sting to desireable things, such as corals

and yeah, they'll grow and multiply, so they can get to be eyesores
