lutea

Do you mean the crypt, c. lutea? I'd say no, they're heavy root feeders & I use root tabs. Probably not enough food in your water column for it to be at its' best.

What I have seen is crypts need to be planted to attain maximum growth potential however some crypts do not need to be planted to live and grow. I have attached crypts to wood and they grow but they're stunted and small which is fine by me... I wanted them small. So if you want it as full and big as possible plant it. If you want it attached to some wood then try it and see what you get.

I have crypts attached to sticks to so I can move them around in my fish tanks. These also grow small but do grow. The roots reach for the soil and I sometimes have to trim them.
