hey people!

can someone tell me why a madusa worm (or also know as a cucumber worm)
is a bad thing? the only info I can find on this invert is "not for the tank" or "species only tank" but no info seems to be availible as to why. I was also wondering if anyone knew what types of other inverts/fish not to house this one with. Does anyone know anything about this creature?

Thanks for all responses.

I hope they're not bad, I have dozens of them in my tank... they're in almost every tank I've seen.

Is it really a medusa worm, which is a type of cucumber, or a spaghetti worm? Medusa worms are not very good candidates for aquaria because they are heavy filter feeders and tend to starve to death in tanks. They look like sausages with fans at one end.

Spaghetti worms, aka terebellids, are useful devtritivores. Usually all you see are long, skinny tentacles probing the sand and rocks.

this thing looks just like your picture you have, same color and everything. behavior is like the second creature you described, constantly moving about the tank and putting each tentacle into it's mouth (or head) alternating each of them in turn. the underside of each tentacle is sticky and the body of the worm has a stickyness to it as well. one of my friends said it looks like a small intestine.

do you know where I can find info on these animals? I'm worried it could be making other tank mates sick... like my BT anenome.

anyways thanks for the pic, I don't have a camera, so, It really helps.
