MagFloat Medium for a 30g?

Would this be too strong for a 30g glass tank? I put my fingers between the magnets and it hurt. The scrubber is abrasive so I'm wondering if it will scratch the glass. Any opinionserv:

if its for fish tanks than it will be fine on your glass.

bigger ones just have stronger magnet with more area. will be fine. i use my big one on small tanks. just dont get anything between the glass and magfloat

The magnet is "stronger" because there's more of it. Because there's more of it, the pressure is spread out over a larger area resulting in(likely) the exact same pressure accross the contact point. No danger to your glass, but if you've got an acrylic aquarium don't use a mag float designed for glass.

I wouldn't recommend sticking your fingers between magnets to test their pull strength.

It's fine on a smaller tank. I use it at work on our tanks which are 15 gallons. Just don't let the magnets slam together.
