Magnum ProToo Big a Filter?

I couldn't resist the summer sale on Fosters/Smith and got a Magnum Pro 350 (w/biowheel); but then I decided to only start a new 29 gal (fresh) tank. I'm worried this will be overkill. Should I exchange it and get a Fluval 204 instead? I've never had a canister filter before (use an Aquaclear on my 20L tank). Also, the Magnum only has one media chamber, and I usually use different media. I have a planted tank, where I use Purigen instead of charcoal, some peat cause the water is hard, etc. My new tank will be planted too, with mostly tetras, barbs and corys (I've had tanks for years, but I think I still qualify as a newbie). Any suggestions

New Post-er

Sorry. This is my first post, and since no one answered the other one, I thought it was in the wrong section, or title too boring, etc. It won't happen again.

I have a mag350 on my 75 gallon and a fluval 404 and both claim to put out 350gph. Well, in comparison side by side the mag350 has no where near the output the fluval 404. I love my mag 350 due to amount of charcoal it can hold. I think you are just fine with what you've got in the mag350. As you can tell I would rather over filter than under filter. If you use the activated carbon route make sure you use a good quality carbon derived from bituminous coal. I was not impressed with the pleated filter and the carbon will make your water crystal clear.

You will be fine with the magnum, and if you have the quick disconect valves they say that you can use them to reduce the output. It will say in the directions how to do this...
