I placed this here becouse I consider it a Do it yourself project that I am just getting help with.

OK I am thinking about making a software for maintaining your tank/tanks. This software would use a gui interface. I know I will wont it to allow you to look up water chemistry from different dates. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has any input on this that they would like to see. Remeber this would not be a production software so I don't wont to make it to complicated due to the fact that I am going to make vertion 1 a free-ware product. I may later (after much feedback and spell checking) make it a for profit but at this time that is not what is on my mind. I am thinking KISS (Keep it simple stupid) and would be glad to let anyone download it for free. I would only ask that they give me feedback on it in return.

What would you all like to see in a basic software?

What would be a good color schem for this?

Any other suggestions you would recomend?

I will not be able to start my flow chart for a couple of weeks so please feel free to take your time and think about this. I do not intend to do salt water with this even though it would be very little programming to do so. I am debating whether or not to make the sorce code avalible.

I have seen others software and some of them look good. I always like to write my own software so that I know its done right (not that they wouldn't but I don't wont to find out the hard way). Also by me doing it I have the sorce code so that I can change anything I don't like. I know why reinvent the wheel. Answer becouse the wheel can be done better.

What's wrong with using Excel? That's simple, and would work anywhere?

Nothing is wrong with exel if that is your preferance. I personaly don't like it. I do beleive it is a wonderfull program for its minimule use database. I just perfer my own custome programs. This does not mean that it would be what everyone would like we all have different tastes. I was just wondering what some of your suggestions would be on a good software.

Ty I will check it out.
