Major Score---Coralife Aqua Light

Just got a major score, picked up a 36" 2x96w Coralife Aqualight CF Hood for $50, like new condition.

And now, for the question: It's got a 10k bulb and actinic. It's going on a planted tank. I'll be losing the actinic for a 6700k. Should I drop the 10k as well?

someone on the forum is actually using the coralife made for sw and he is running the 10k and actinic and has no complaints, says the plants are loving it. ill make sure he comes and gives you some of his info

I'm definitely ditching the actinic. Some people like it for how it makes the aquarium look, but it's kind of a waste of space as far as plant growth is concerned.

definally swap it for some 6700k bulbs. As long as its over 6000k ur fine. Just not actinic, that grows marine algae. I have the 30" one and so far its awesome.

That is as long as u have co2, and dry ferts. for that type of watts over ur tank, ur gonna have super algae if u don't balance it. also u may need pressurized co2 because DIY co2 may not cut it.

no need to ditch the 10000k bulb. one one 6700k and one 10000k bulb. should be fine. good find.
