So I got a free pair of ADF's from a member on another forum, and I have a question about the male. It doesn't look like he has those "pimples" behind his forelegs (armpits), and if he does have them, they aren't very bulging like I have seen pictures of. Is this why the previous person had them for a year and they never bred (only tried to once but resulted in no eggs and no surfacing)? I am pretty close to positive he is a male, but I don't see the pimples or whatever you technically call them.

Do you have pics of the frogs? I know the males are smaller than the females and skinnier and like you said they have the armpit glands once they reach sexual maturity. I have heard people say that they are picky about the conditions of breeding, but when they feel comfortable with doing it the male will start singing to the female. I have also heard people talk about how the female lays eggs and then the male fertalizes them, but after fertalized ifyou dont remove them then the frogs will often eat the eggs. I only have a clawed frog, not a dwarf, so all my info just comes from people I know who have them and talk about them. Pictures would be helpful if you had them though.

Also, the picture below isnt mine, its just one I found but it shows pretty perfectly how different the male and female look. Hope this helps. :)

I am almost beginning to think that my "female" is a male, but that wouldn't make sense. I hear one singing each night, so I know that at least one of them is male. Also, both of them are pretty skinny (the supposed male skinnier than the supposed female, though). I feed them often on live foods, so I don't see why the female isn't full of eggs.
I will be back with a picture of both.

hmmm sounds fishy..(no pun intended lol). Hopefully the pics will show something telling about the sex of both. ;)

Okay here are two pictures of the "female" (that I am thinking more and more is actually a male):

And here is the male (hiding behind the heater, so hard to photograph):

Sorry about the bad quality (was trying to hurry), and hope that helps you all answer!

EDIT: The "male" is definately smaller than the "female", though.

hmmm I cant see bumps on either of them (the armpit bumps) but I think thats just because the pics are a little dark. That could still be a female, but tbh your guess is as good as mine at this point, and like you said, one of them is singing so you know at least one is a male. I am fairly certain the bottom picture is a male. you might try feeding them really well with brine shrimp and blood worms. I have heard that encourages breeding. The female might puff up with eggs if you try that. Wish I could tell you more. Keep us posted on what happens and if you find out.
