I have 2 Blue Rams in a 20 gallon hex tank along with a mystery snail. 1 male and 1 female. should i add another female to the mix in hopes that the male will pair off with one or should i leave it alone and just go with what i have and hope that the male likes the female that is there? right now the male chases the female all over the tank but he doesn't seem to be trying to court her, it just looks like he is being mean.

It might be a good idea to put a few more females in there until he picks one. It will also help to spread out the aggression a bit till he makes up his mind. Do remove the ones that snubbed, they won't do well in there with the pair.

I worry about the tank size. The 20g hex has such a small footprint. Not the best for rams. Lots of structure built up (long pieces of driftwood) will give the effect of "extending" the bottom region of the tank, and give more places for the existing female or additional females to get out of the males line of site.

I would just go with a buunch of structure as mooman said and just keep the pair in there. Make sure they have plenty of places to hide... I have had the "other female" killed one to many times to suggest you getting more and that was in a 75g
