Hi
i bought 2 male rosy barbs today and they will not stop pecking and fighting with eachother are they going to kill eachother there are no other rosy's in the tank

thanks

IMO/IME Rosy Barbs should be kept just like most other easily sexed fish---at least 2-3 females per male. It is the best of ideas to have a group of ladies for each male. What is the size of your tank-and what other fish are in it??

I have 3 platties 5 neon tetra 4 angels 2 guppies and 3 sword tails it is 170 liter tank i dont plan on getting anymore fish will i need to take the rosy's out?
Thanks

I would suggest it yes. I would more suggest adding to the numbers of your schooling fish...IE. everyone other then the Angels(for a proper school you should have a minimum of 5-7 of each), oh and how large are your Angels? I don't know if you are aware or not but you will be needing to move out at least 2 of them once they are large enough to pair up.

Hey
yes im very aware that i will need to remove the angels and about the barbs there getting along fine now i cannont belive it and i dont know why they were so nasty just hours ago
thanks for all of your help abi88

They were establishing a pecking order in their new surroundings.

You have plenty of room in that tank to add more.

Add more barbs. An all male school should be ok but they will probably show their colors better with females. If you want to get females I would suggest adding only females at this point. Problem is that they are usually harder to find due to their bland appearance.

Your welcome:)

I concur with adding more Barbs-I would more suggest adding females then males, though-because of how beautiful the male's coloring is when they have girls to strut for!lol But, I am going to have to disagree with the fact that the female are hard to find, pretty much every pet store that I have gone to across the country has had a mix of males and females-but no one likes to buy them cause the are seen as "bland".

OH....and where are the Pictures?!:D

i would be careful with barbs and angels. even rosy barbs can be nippy.

also, there really isnt enough room for a school of angels AND a school of rosy barbs. both species of fish reach 5-6 inches easily.

Well I agree that you want to watch the angel's fins for any signs of nipping-because they are a Barb so they can be nippy. BUT I would have to say that I have never seen-or even heard of, other then in VERY old books(and on Wikipedia) them getting over maybe 4".....on of my friends, and a VERY good fish keeper grows mutant EVERYTHING and hers are still under 4"! Maybe the Long Finns-including the fins-get 5....but I cant say as I have ever heard-or seen of them getting 6"!!!!
