Hey I'm thinking of getting one for my desk at work. Anyone have any comments on these?

Does it use fluorescent lights or a regular incandescent? How's the filter?

Thanks :)

I had an Eclipse System Six and kept a black moor and a fairly large apple snail in there. Big mistake. The apple snail scraped away at the acrylic until it got quite blurry.

Mine used a tiny fluorescent bulb, I don't remember the specs but it was thin and short.

The filter has a BioWheel which should help with the biological filtration but I thought it was a bit expensive to buy the filters once a month from the lfs. If you're going to get one, try online for both the aquarium and the filters.

... And DON'T keep plecos or apple snails in there.

Great advice, thanks. Would you be interested in selling it? I found it for like $49 online. Big A's has it for $55+S&H. I think I can get a pricematch at least.

Hmmm I also need a filter. So many wants :p

The Eclipse comes with a BioWheel filter built-in. All you need is cartridges if you go that route.

I already sold it to someone in my company's classifieds. Anyway thanks for the interest.

I had a 3g,6g,12g, also the #1, 2#2s and a #3 hood.
You can rinse the pads out 20 times before you chuck them:confused: I use all mine for a year sometimes.
You dont have to run the pads all the time take some small pieces of lava rock or some other media and fill the tray.
The bulb is a 8w 5500K more light per gallon than 90% of other tanks sold as combos even big gallon tanks.
Stay away from the explorer (no light at all) or the hex it uses a incandesent:mad: .
