Does anyone use or previously used the Marineland Magnum 350 BIO-Pro system? I am looking at getting it since it offers the level of filtration of Canisters with the bio filtration of a wet-dry trickle.

I am also using a Penguin 200. I want to have double filtration as I have had problems in the past. The Penguin does OK but I have watched some of the fish waste and other things stay in the tank and not get filtered by the Penguin. I have had to do 100% water changes in the past and earlier this past weekend.

Any input on if I should spend the money ($80 US) on this or do you recommend something else.

I have the 350 no wheel. I dont suggest it as a main filter it is best suited for water pollishing. I would get a different canister filter.

Thanks but that doesn't tell me very much! I am not using it as a primary but a secondary filter. Reme, ber this one has the wheel and can use both the polisher and the carbon filter with foam strainer.

Just add another HOB power filter if you feel the need for more filtration. A cannister isnt worth the time or money investment anymore. I recommend the Emperor line, also by Marineland. I use a single Emperor 400 on my 55g freshwater tank, and duel 400s on my 29g FOWLR marine tank. (way overkill, but I have 200 bucks in fish alone in that tank) and both tanks are clear as gin.

The Emperor 400 has duel bio-wheels (wet/dry), 4 slots for cartridges/media of your choice, and provides good surface agitation without a lot of noise. The motor is near silent, the only thing I hear is the lapping of the bio-wheels on the return. Its rather peaceful, and being that the marine tank is located in my bedroom, I sleep rather well. =) My two cents.
