This medication I got for a parasite one of my fish has says that it is harmful to shrimp and crabs. I was wondering what kind of damage it will do to my bamboo shrimp (if i do use it, that is). I don't have a hospital tank, or another tank i can put my shrimp in. Should i even bother using the medication, or will the shrimp be okay? (oh, btw, its this stuff called parasite clear that looks like an alka seltzer tab) I also have a snail, would he be okay?

Most medications for killing parasites are copper based. It won't hurt the shrimp or snail.......it will kill them!

Also, if you use this stuff, there is no real way to remove all the traces of the copper in the tank, and thus will probably kill any inverts you add later.

see, i knew the thing about copper, but when i look at the list of active ingredients, copper isn't even on the list, in case you might know some of these things, heres the list of active ingredients

praziquantel; N-[[(4-Chlorophenyl)amino]carbon 1]-2, 6-difluorobenzamide; etronidazole; acriflavine

typed exactly as it appears on the package.

does that clear anything up?

my neon blue dwarves have ragged fins, and spiderweblike feces, which, from what i've read, can be a sign of an internal parasite

Well I can't guarantee anything but I have used Maracyn 2 in my tank before and it didn't seem to kill off my snails, which are small rams horn snails. It uses Minocycline as its ingredient and that is just an antibiotic. It is pretty easy to find medicine at most petshops.
